A new collaboration beer took a dark turn… Plus, pop-ups, coloring night and more!
The sun may be returning, but our latest collaboration beer has left us in the dark. Behold: At Dawn, We Ride Black IPA, a collaboration with our fellow Fairbanks brewers at Lat 65 Brewing Company!
Does seeing “black IPA” take you back a decade or so? Us, too. This beer harkens back to both Black Spruce and Lat 65’s head brewers’ origins brewing in Oregon and celebrates a now oft-unseen style. This beer was brewed with a base made up of both Pilsen and Munich malts and a sprinkling of pale chocolate malt. A dank and fruity hop base was built upon a whirlpool addition of Strata hops, and dry-hopping with Australian Eclipse hops added Mandarin orange and pine notes. For some extra flavor and fun, this beer was conditioned on vanilla beans and orange peel. The final product features notes of chocolate-covered oranges, Tootsie Pops and subtle pine, and the can features original artwork by Andrew Brooks.
Take a break from our usual hazy programming with a pint of At Dawn, We Ride Black IPA! This beer is available on tap at our taproom (but not Lat 65’s, sadly) and in 4-packs to go from our website and online store. Cheers to collaboration and revisiting old favorite styles!
Coloring Night
We’ve got coloring pages for all ages ready for Coloring Night TONIGHT! Bring your friends and family and settle in for some good clean fun! Meg’s Eats & Treats will be in the house, and we’ll have plenty of brews and NAs available for everyone. Crayons and coloring pages provided, and you can showcase your artwork on the fridge (our walk-in cooler) when you’re done!
Next First Friday
Another month has nearly come and gone, but you know what that means: First Friday is almost here! Next Friday, April 5, we’ll be welcoming returning artist Kassandra Mirosh back to our taproom! Kassandra’s eye-catching works are intricately constructed of folded paper and mixed media and feature birds from across Alaska and beyond. Swing by to take in the artwork and enjoy a pint!
Upcoming Events
Love local art and jonesin’ to add a new mug to your collection? Local potter Jacie Sturm will be at our taproom for a pop-up on Thursday, April 4 from 4PM to 7PM! Jacie’s charming mugs and adorable ceramics will be on display and available for sale for one night only! Find Jacie’s work on Instagram at @freckledpots.
We’ll be hosting Coloring Night TONIGHT! It’s exactly what it sounds like. Bring the kiddos, some friends or just yourself, and enjoy some relaxing coloring while you sip a fresh beer! Crayons and coloring pages will be provided. We’ll even put your artwork up on the fridge (our big ol’ walk-in cooler) when you’re done to show off your work!
Join us on Friday, April 5 for First Friday with returning artist Kassandra Mirosh of Weyekin Studio! Kassandra’s stunning, avian-inspired works are masterful pieces made of colorful, folded paper and other mixed media.
For the first time, we’ll be hosting Toast FBX for a pop-up on Saturday, April 6 from 5PM to 7PM! Toast FBX makes, you guessed it, fun toast! Stop by for wholesome bites and tasty suds on a Saturday night!
BSBC alumnus Jill Anderson will be at our taproom for a pop-up on Thursday, April 11 from 4PM to 7PM! Jill will be showing off her gorgeously detailed, handcrafted beaded earrings and will have her collection on sale for the evening! Check out Jill’s work on Instagram at @blueberry.beadworks.
You can catch us at Taste of Alaska at the Pub at UAF on Saturday, April 27 from 6PM to 10PM. This bangin’ annual beer festival celebrates craft beer and cider from around Alaska and is a great opportunity to revisit your favorite brews and sample the latest releases! Tickets are available at the Pub now or at the door day-of.
Anchorage and Mat-Su accounts, we’re comin’ for ya! Our next round of Anchorage and Mat-Su deliveries will be on April 1 & 2. Prepare yourself for a whole mess of new releases, including a new collab and a fresh lager!
