Denali Climb Talk TONIGHT
TONIGHT at 6PM, join us for our latest Think & Drink talk! We are delighted to host Mark Oldmixon, director of UAF’s Nanook Recreation, as he shares his adventure climbing North America’s tallest peak! Mark will have tons of photos to accompany his compelling tale, and if you’ve got questions, he’s ready with answers! This talk is free and open to the public. BYO grub tonight.
After the start of the new year, we’ll have even more talks comin’ atcha! All talks are free, open to the public and will begin at 6PM.
- Wednesday, January 7, BSBC head brewer Carey Fristoe will blind us with science- the science of brewing! Carey holds a masters degree in brewing and distilling and is known statewide for beers that slap and his focus on technique, so get a crash course with this groovy talk!
- Wednesday, January 21, Brad St. Pierre will tell us all about what it takes to run a farm in Interior Alaska! Brad manages the Tanana Valley Farmers Market and operates Goosefoot Farm, and he’s gonna tell us all about the schedule, economics and realities of farming around Fairbanks.
- Wednesday, February 4 will be all about roundabouts, and you’re gonna love it. UAF engineering professor Nathan Belz is going to make you a believer in the superiority of roundabouts and tell us how they can make our roads safer and more efficient. We love it.

Our Gingerbread House Building Competition returns this Saturday! Join us this Saturday, December 6 and show us what you’ve got. This year’s competition will again be judged by a couple of pros, and we’ll have some winter movies going, too. Sweet Prik Thai will be here, so come on down for a good time!
First Friday This Week
As is our December tradition, local ceramicist Heidi Morel will be joining us for this month’s First Friday show! This Friday, December 5, we’ll kick off our new monthly art feature, and Heidi will be showing off a fresh drop of new pieces! Mugs, bowls, tumblers, the works! These pieces always go quickly, so swing by to get your fill and, of course, be sure to grab a 4-pack or two while you’re here! Doors will open at 3PM, and supplies won’t last!
