A Message from the Brewer
The return of the sun in Alaska marks the return of one of my personal favorite perennials: Solar Recharger. This double hazy IPA has undergone tweaks and alterations over the years, with one constant: Motueka, a New Zealand hop that packs some Lime Zest and Tutti Frutti aromas. Last year, we may have found the perfect companion: Eclipse, an Australian hop that boasts notes of Mandarin Orange aromas. We decided to keep the hops the same this go-around and to alter the malt base to include two-row, malted wheat and malted oats. The result is a rich orange color that supports the wonderful array of citrus and fruit characteristics of the hops. We also fermented this year's batch with a blend of Fermentis S-04 and Lallemand American East Coast English yeast strains, which accent the citrus and fruit characteristics of the hops.

Color with Us!
Ready to unwind and relax for a while? Grab a pint and come color with us! Next Wednesday, March 27, we’ll be hosting coloring night at our taproom! Crayons and coloring sheets for both kids and grown-ups will be provided, and Meg’s Eats & Treats will be on-hand with tasty bites. We’ll even put your beautiful artwork up on the fridge (our walk-in cooler) when you’re done!

Our second collaboration with our Fairbanks neighbors to the east will be dropping soon! At Dawn, We Ride Black IPA, a collaboration with Lat 65 Brewing Company, is dark and aromatic, eliciting notes of chocolate-covered orange and a satisfying bitterness. This beer will be available on tap and to-go in 4-packs at Black Spruce Brewing Company only (unavailable at Lat 65).

Brrr! It’s cold out there! Learn about local options for improving housing, including how to better keep housing warm, with Brews, Brains & Building on Wednesday, March 20! The Cold Climate Housing Research Center will be at our taproom for this informative event from 5:30-7:30. Be sure to check out their website for more information on Fairbanks Housing Action Week events and CCHRC’s work in Fairbanks and beyond!
You can catch us at Palmer Alehouse TONIGHT for our annual tap takeover! Join us for an evening of good times and great brews. Head brewer Carey Fristoe will be on-hand to answer all of your burning Black Spruce questions, and you can enjoy a flight of our flagship brews and new releases! We’ll be hosting Coloring Night on Wednesday, March 27! It’s exactly what it sounds like. Bring the kiddos, some friends or just yourself, and enjoy some relaxing coloring while you sip a fresh beer! Crayons and coloring pages will be provided. We’ll even put your artwork up on the fridge (our big ol’ walk-in cooler) when you’re done to show off your work!
Love local art and jonesin’ to add a new mug to your collection? Local potter Jacie Sturm will be at our taproom for a pop-up on Thursday, April 4! Jacie’s charming mugs and adorable ceramics will be on display and available for sale for one night only!
Join us on Friday, April 5 for First Friday with returning artist Kassandra Mirosh of Weyekin Studio! Kassandra’s stunning, avian-inspired works are masterful pieces made of colorful, folded paper and other mixed media.
You can catch us at Taste of Alaska at the Pub at UAF on Saturday, April 27 from 6PM to 10PM. This bangin’ annual beer festival celebrates craft beer and cider from around Alaska and is a great opportunity to revisit your favorite brews and sample the latest releases! Tickets are available at the Pub now or at the door day-of.
