Ride, Beer Lovers, Ride

We can see the pavement again! You know what that means: summer biking is right around the corner!

Dust off (or dig out) your summer bike and get your buns in gear! Black Spruce Bike Club is getting ready to kick off another season of pedal-powered fun!

The last few summers, we’ve offered two different ways to participate in Black Spruce Bike Club. With our punch card program (free to join BTW), riders earn a punch on their cards each time they bike to our taproom. It doesn’t matter how far you rode or whether you stick around for a beer, all you have to do is arrive here via bicycle. Completed punch cards can be traded in for a fun prize. We’ve also offered group rides on Saturday mornings, which featured varying routes and intensity levels. A great ride and an awesome beer to start the weekend? Yes, please.

Before we get the season started, we want to hear from you! What do you want to see from Black Spruce Bike Club this year? Whether you’ve participated before or are thinking about doing so this year, we’d love to hear your feedback. If you’ve got two minutes, please take our survey and let us know your thoughts.

Thanks for taking the time to complete our survey, ride safely and we’ll see you soon!

A Message from the Brewer

In today's Brewer's Note, I want to talk about our new glassware. If you look into an empty glass (which I wouldn’t leave empty for too long, if I were you), you will see our Alaska logo at the bottom. Aside from looking cool, this is what's called a nucleation point. A nucleation point is an etched design at the bottom of the glass that knocks CO2 out of solution.

So what's the point of a nucleated glass?
*It releases a steady stream of bubbles, which continuously replenishes the head on the beer.
*The constant stream of foam releases more aroma from the beer.
*It is mesmerizing to watcha stream of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass.

A visually appealing  and longer lasting head, a constant refresh of delectable hop and malt aromas and a mesmerizing stream of bubbles? Sign me up.

Be sure to stop by the taproom and check out our new glassware. If you are keen on them, we have them available to buy, so you can enjoy your favorite Black Spruce beers at home and in style.

Cheers, Carey

New Brew Review

We’re flattered and honored to have just received another stellar review and rating from Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine! One of our recent hazy DIPAs, Ice & Magic, was rated 95 out of 100 in the magazine’s latest issue. Reviewers noted that this beer “[feels]rooted in beer’s past while stepping into the future.” You can read the full review here.

Unfortunately, we no longer have this beer available, but we’ve got oodles of other great beers, including a couple of newer hazies, available! Check out our website for our current menu of beers available on tap and to-go.

Collabs Everywhere

You know us: we love brewing fun, new beers with our friends. That said, we’re thrilled to announce two new collabs available in Fairbanks this week!

Tropical Breeze Hazy IPA is our latest collaboration with Bearpaw River Brewing Company. This juice bomb features Citra and HBC 1019 hops and is on tap at Lavelle’s Taphouse TODAY.

Eagle Rye-d Cold IPA is our first brew with our friends across town at Latitude 65 Brewing Company! Try this spicy and crisp little number at their taproom beginning tomorrow!

Sadly, under Alaska state law, we aren’t able to put either of these beers on tap at our taproom. Be sure to go out and try them out our fellow local businesses, though! Cheers, friends!
